Among ankle fractures, lateral malleolar fractures are being treated in various ways. In this study, fracture fixation was conducted
using lag screws and neutral plates in lateral malleolar fractures, and its clinical and radiological satisfaction was evaluated. The subjects
of this study were 296 cases, who could be followed up for one year at least, among 1,297 patients who had received surgical
treatment for ankle fracture from 2000 to 2008. Among total 296 cases, the results were shown to be satisfactory through Meyer’s
method, such that their clinical satisfaction was observed in 262 cases and radiological satisfaction in 257 cases. Although there are
diversified fracture surgeries, lag screws and neutral plates were used in this study, and it is deemed that rather operational skill than
operational method most significantly influences the operational result.
